Enugu Blockchain Week is 45 days away.
On September 8, builders from across Nigeria and West Africa will descend on Enugu for 12 days of hacking, learning, and shipping. By September 19, teams will have built real projects, judges will have scored them, and winners will walk away with prizes, connections, and something to show for their work.
This is not a conference where people sit in chairs and listen to panels about "the future of Web3." This is a building event. If you come to EBW, you come to work.
Here is exactly what is happening.
The Build Arena: September 8--14
Seven days. Form a team or go solo. Pick a track. Build a working project from scratch. Submit before the deadline.
Registration, team formation, submissions, judging, and prize payouts all happen on one platform. No Google Forms. No spreadsheet chaos. No "send your submission to this email address." You register. You build. You submit. Judges score your work on a rubric. Results are published publicly with full scores. Winners get paid.

What you can build
Tracks will be announced in the coming weeks. Expect a mix of DeFi, payments, infrastructure, and social impact - the categories where African builders are already leading globally.
Solo or team
You can participate solo or in a team of up to 5.
Side Events: September 9--18
This is what makes EBW a festival, not a conference.
Throughout the 12 days, 30+ communities host their own events across Enugu. Workshops, panels, meetups, cultural nights, demo days - all programmed by the community. Protocol ecosystem days. University hackathons. Networking dinners. Cultural experiences. A football tournament. The city becomes the venue.
If you run a community, a DAO, a protocol, or a university club and want to host a side event under the EBW umbrella, submit at events.enugublockchainweek.xyz. You handle your own venue, content, and logistics. We handle promotion, calendar listing, and brand support.
The Main Summit: September 19
One day. The grand finale.
Keynotes, panels, demos, Build Arena awards, and the closing party - all on the final day. This is where everything converges. The builders who spent the week hacking present their work. The speakers who have actually shipped products share what they have learned. The community celebrates what it built.
The summit is designed for two audiences:
1. Builders who just finished the hackathon and want to learn from people who have scaled their projects beyond a demo.
2. Founders and operators who are looking for technical talent, partnership opportunities, and market intelligence on blockchain adoption in Africa.
Speakers will be announced over the next few weeks. We are bringing in people who have actually built and shipped - not people who talk about building and shipping. The speaker application form will be out soon.
Why Enugu
Enugu is not Lagos. That is the point.
Lagos has ten blockchain events a month. The ecosystem there is saturated with meetups, launches, and networking dinners. Builders in Lagos are overserved.
Enugu is where the rest of Nigeria's technical talent lives and works - the Southeast, the South-South, the Middle Belt. These are developers who build serious products but do not get the same access to events, sponsors, and ecosystem resources that Lagos developers take for granted.
EBW exists to change that. We bring the ecosystem to where the builders are, not the other way around.
This is also why EBW is a 12-day festival, not a weekend conference. A weekend trip to Lagos is easy. A 12-day programme in Enugu requires commitment. The people who show up are the people who are serious about building.
What is Different About EBW 2026
A real hackathon, not a weekend demo sprint
The Build Arena runs for seven days. That is not a typo. Most hackathons in Nigeria give you 24 to 48 hours, enough time to build a landing page and a pitch deck. We give you a full week to build something that actually works. The goal is not a demo that dies on Monday. The goal is a product that keeps going after Demo Day.
Community-programmed
EBW is not one team running one event. It is 30+ communities running their own events under one umbrella. You do not just attend EBW - you can host a part of it.
